The Māori Koru design you see on our website is very spiritual and is inspired by the New Zealand native fern fond unfurling as it grows. It represents peace, tranquillity, personal growth, positive change and awakening. It is also associated with new life and harmony, or anyone starting a new phase of their life.

 

Real New Zealand Tours - the beginning 

Our Director, founder, owner, leading private driver - tour guide and his story started in August 1992 when an enthusiastic Geoff left the safety and security of the Corporate world to enter a whole new world, that of tourism. Geoff founded "The Mountain Bike Adventure Company" hiring out cycles at the newly opened Mount Cavendish Gondola (Christchurch Port Hills). Geoff became an active member and spokes-person of the Canterbury Tourism Council representing all the Adventure Tourism operators in the region. Geoff has built up over 30 years' of industry experience a vast knowledge of his beloved country and having many years ago worked with several leading tourism operators, is today considered a Travel Specialist - an expert within Kiwi tourism

Today tourism is hugely important to the New Zealand economy, one in ten Kiwis are involved in this exciting fast growing dynamic industry. International visitors and Kiwi's traveling domestically now spend over NZ$12 billion every year. The New Zealand Tourism Board are now predicting by 2025 visitor numbers will approach 5 million plus - that's our total population (plus 32 million sheep!). Air New Zealand, our National airline, continues to develop exciting new routes - for example South America and  particularly in North America, J.F.K. New York directly to Auckland and from Houston, San Francisco, Chicago - soon direct flights Los Angeles to Christchurch (our home town)

Real New Zealand Tours Limited was incorporated as a company in 2005 offering international visitors customised itineraries and trips to Aotearoa - New Zealand, both the North and South Islands. 95% of our visitors prefer self drive (rental car) and are US clients with an average stay of 14 nights

I have been involved in Tourism in New Zealand since August 1992. I am a past member of the Canterbury Tourism Council where I represented the local Adventure Tourism Industry operators. I'm extremely passionate and caring about what I do in life, and together with awesome fellow Kiwi staff, promise to give you the very best vacation experience possible while you explore our beautiful land, Aotearoa - New Zealand. On a personal note - I am a past competitor in our famous "Coast to Coast" Endurance Race - World Championship event and have competed in numerous Marathons and Multi-sport races. I absolutely love our world - famous great outdoors, our majestic mountains, beautiful lakes and rivers, fiords, glaciers, ancient rain forests, golden sandy beaches, our unique Maori Heritage and much more. I always feel privileged to be able to share with others New Zealand’s beauty and uniqueness - and look forward to meeting you soon.

I am often described as a bubbly person who has a passion for life. I was born and educated in the UK, graduating from Newcastle University with a BA Hon Degree in Archaeology.

I started my career in the UK managing hotels and restaurants, but when we had a young family we decided it was time for a total life change. We set up home in North Cyprus and managed a local village restaurant and bar, plus bookshop and small tour company called Adlib Tours. Our tagline was “Interesting places in the sun”. We specialised in authentic village visits, local crafts, local food and drinks, and celebrating local festivals with friendly Cypriot people.

In 2014 it was super exciting when I met Geoff - because suddenly, the world became a much bigger place for me! With Geoff’s huge passion for all things “Kiwi” - I have now extensively travelled and experienced awesome New Zealand!
10 years later I am now a proud New Zealand citizen. Having run a luxury lodge in the heart of the Mackenzie Country in the centre of the South Island I truly understand our clients desires and needs. Please try to slow down your trip and book at least 2 nights in each location, 3 is even better!

I am Libby's daughter and I have lived most of my life in Northern Cyprus. I graduated with a BA honours in Tourism and Marketing and couldn't wait to visit New Zealand.

One of my highlights was doing the Bungy Jump from the Kawarau Bridge in Queenstown! Something I thought I could never do! Also walking the Hooker Valley in the Aoraki MT Cook National Park. Special times sharing such stunning scenery with my mum Libby My trip to New Zealand was so inspiring when I returned home I quit my old job and started following my dreams.
