Enjoy the beauty of the tranquil Avon river which meanders through the city centre. On its banks are cycling paths, the green expanse of Hagley park and beautiful Christchurch Botanic gardens (often called the Garden city). View our impressive new stadium due for completion 2026. Next door the transitional cardboard Cathedral, next the delightful Margaret Mahy childrens playground and quaint Spanish style New Regent street. This city is New Zealands second largest with a thriving tech sector, world-class university and an innovation eco-system like none other. A city with a revitalised centre buzzing with energy, surrounded by the tranquillity of nature.

Waipara Springs winery

Next, we travel by road north 45 minutes to the delightful Waipara Springs winery. This region is known for its warm dry climate and rich alluvial soils, ideal for superior wine production. Over 40 vineyards and wineries dominate the landscape of the valley with Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc the most prominent local plantings Established in 1989 Waipara Springs is the founding winery of this region. Now in its 3rd generation of management with your hosts Andrew and Katie. Their motto being - providing you with a knowledgeable wine experience in a most relaxing rural setting.

Glenafric farm

Next a short drive to Glenafric farm - a 770ha coastal sheep and beef farm. With Corriedale and South Suffolk stud sheep flocks as well as commercial
Corriedales and Hereford cattle. Enjoy real new zealand, this is an authentic true working farm supporting 2 families, 3 generations. Marvel at the skill of a sheep shearer and the enthusiasm of highly trained farm dogs.
